[Permissions] Why does the application require certain permissions?

In order to protect your privacy, the Android system prompts the user to consent specific permissions that Prayer Times application need to perform some operations.

Why the app need this permission

Location
Uses the device's location

Your location is required in order to find the Qibla direction and calculate accurate prayer times. Prayer times are based on the position of the sun which itself depends on your actual location.

Photos/media/files
Uses one or more of: files on the device, such as images, videos or audio; the device's external storage

This permission is required in order to save downloaded content such as additional adhans or ringtones.

Microphone
Uses the device's microphone(s)

This permission is required in order to use voice search to find your location manually.

Wi-Fi connection information
Allows the app to view information about Wi-Fi networking, such as whether Wi-Fi is enabled and names of connected Wi-Fi devices

This permission is required in order to download content such as additional adhans or ringtones.

Device ID & call information
Allows the app to determine the phone number and device IDs, whether a call is active and the remote number connected by a call

This permission is required in order to obtain a unique identifier for your device. This unique device ID is used by third-party advertising platforms to suggest customized ads. Please note such device identifier is completely anonymous, as all other data collected by the Prayer Times application.


Note: A few other system permissions are also required by the Prayer Times application in order to download audio and other useful files from the internet, send you notifications (call to prayer), prevent your device from sleeping while the alarm is ringing, make your device vibrate, and run at startup to reschedule adhan notifications should you restart your device.
